LONDON TIPS
Nine Below Zero, Special 30th Anniversary London Show

30 år siden bandet gikk over Themsen fra sør til nord å gjøre sin første konsert som Nine Below Zero i Camden. For å feire dette bandet kommer tilbake for å gjøre en konsert på Proud Camden på søndag 4. oktober..  Watch on ....
Sjekk tour datoer for ytterligere detaljer.

Shunt Vaults

20 Stainer Street
London, SE1 9EL

This place is truly special. Hidden behind a little door on Joiner Street in London Bridge station, this sprawling underground space is a members’ bar with a difference. Dark and Gothic in atmosphere this is the place to come if you have a penchant for avant-garde theatre, performance art, cabaret and circus. On any given night you might see aerialists twisting from the ceiling or run into arts installation. It's also the home of the Shunt collective and, as such, has been the setting for their unique theatrical spectacles Amalto Saltone and Tropicano. There is always something of interest to see - or maybe participate in.

Drinks are basic – beer and wine and nothing fancy, but that’s not the point here. Atmosphere is all, and your experience will differ depending on what night you rock up, but if you bring an open mind (and a fiver if you’re a non member) you’re bound to have a memorable night.

Brazil in London

Want to try something different this weekend? Then why not go Brazilian? An estimated 80,000-100,000 party-loving Brazilians are currently living in London. Let's start with the real deal:

Guanabara
For top notch Brazilian entertainment head to Guanabara. Think RIO CARNIVAL vibes, live BRAZILIAN music, sumptuous BRAZILIAN food, EXOTIC and CHAOTIC cocktails, DYNAMIC DJs whacking up a perpetual PARTY ATMOSPHERE. To find all this and more look no further than the back of the new London Theatre on Drury Lane and there you will find the basement location that is Guanabara . Only 5 minutes walk from Holborn or Covent Garden tube.

Guanabara is noted for its top draw entertainers. They seek out the best talents in BRAZILIAN soul, samba, drum n bass and reggae plus cutting edge DJs. This place rocks every night of week. Free samba dance lessons are also available.

The carnival like commotion hits you as soon you reach the top of the stairs and you just know you're going to have a good night out. Inside, the circular layout of the club is easy to navigate with a tight dance floor fizzing and crackling with pulsating clubbers. The humble décor of white walls plus wooden benches just adds to the authenticity. The clubbers are a perfect blend of migrant regulars, locals and tourists fusing up a carefree atmosphere.

Guanabara serve up food too. Plentiful platters for 2 are the order of the day for just L18 with chicken, sausages, spicy dips +. The best cocktail here is the FRUIT CAIPIRINHA made with a choice of Guava, coconut and pineapple you'll soon be booking up your flight to RIO.

Oktoberfest in London

Do you want to celerate the marriage of King Ludwig I to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen? Because that's how the Munich Oktoberfest came about - to commemerate a royal marriage in 1810.

The Oktoberfest is amongst us in London so now is the time to sample the world's most reknown beers-often procured by monks-based on traditional medieval recipes. Wondering where to go in London for some authentic Oktoberfest fun? Then read on..

Offficialy the Oktoberfest this year runs from 20 September-05 October, but a few places in London will no doubt be celebrating for the whole of October!

My favourite Oktoberfest location in London is Belgo Belgo in Covent Garden. They know their brew well and specialise as the perveyors of the very best Belgian beer. This place really has a buzz and they are passionate about what they do. As they say on their web site: 'Like French wine there's a lot to learn about Belgian beer. Obviously you don't have to be an expert to enjoy a pint of leffe (and don't worry - we won't be testing you)..' but I think you start to appreciate the varying complexities of Belgian beer by sampling the many brands Belgo offer. My only complaint is that - on the last 3 occasions that I have been to Belgo - they have not been able to serve me St. Feullien which is a fine accompanyment to Belgo's food. Even though this refined beer is on their menu they have never given me a good answer as to why they do not serve it. To celebrate this year's Oktoberfest, Belgo has recruited a Brew Master to procure an eclectic range of beers for a special menu. Definately try Leffe beer ice-cream for dessert. But for me, Belgo without St. Feuillien beer is a like an elephant without it's trunk.

For some real oom pah pah check out London's Bavarian Beer House -. It's a little kitsch with it's attempt to create a rustic beer-cellar enviroment with waitresses-dressed in their Bavarian Dirndl-dresses serving up beer in stein glasses but that's what makes it fun. The authentic beer selection offers up quality brews such as Hacker-Pschorr wheat beer and Kuppers Koisch from Cologne. Crowd pleasers in the restaurant include Bavarian meat loaf (Leberkäs); sausage platter (Wurstplatte) plus Wiener Schnitzel. Groups can order a Bavarian Roast suckling pig.

En liten rotekte blues-bar hvor du kan spise en Cajun kylling.
Liten live-scene hvor det er full rulle
så å si hver eneste kveld.
Her spiller ofte gode musikere og du må komme tidlig
for å få bord og ikke stå-plass. Sjarmerende sted hvor
du lett blir fast gjest hvis du først kommer hit en gang.
